Electronic Products: Functionality
The CD-ROM and Online Subscription have additional functionality to that of the book. Using the enhanced Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2 CD-ROM as an example it has the following functionality:
-
Dynamic Content - Content of the CD is presented in four different ways to enable the user to view information in a familiar topic-by-topic way, this allows the user to dip into the text at any chosen point: Standard, Process, Role and Component View.
-
Dynamic Table of Contents (ToC) - Provides chapter or subject specific table of content depending on the view chosen. Each heading in a ToC is a link to that section to help the user navigate through the content quickly and easily.
-
Easy Navigation - Navigation buttons allow for easy swapping between pages viewed.
-
Search and Search Results - Allows user to search by a single word, multiple words or phrases, results are shown as a list allowing for easy navigation. Results remain visible when looking at a result's full text. The advanced search option on PRINCE2 enables the user to construct a more refined search by targeting search criteria within a specific section of the publication.
-
Bookmarking - In both cases pages can be bookmarked during your session. The CD-ROM bookmarks can be saved between sessions by storing the information on a "Cookie" (previous bookmarks will be not accessible if the CD is used on a different workstation).
-
History - The CD-ROM tracks up to 20 previously viewed pages on a per session basis allowing you to switch quickly and easily between pages. With Online Subscription the user's browser will track pages visited.
-
Cross linking within Chapters - Hypertext links throughout the documents link to the appropriate section within the publication allowing for easy cross-referencing.
-
Pop-up Glossary Terms - The glossary of terms has been located in the full text and a suitable number of occurrences of each term within a section are highlighted when the mouse is placed over the top, which activates a pop-up window displaying the definition of the glossary term.
